Last call (haiku)

Standard

Secure behind wire

chickens warble at dusk–

sunset fire.

(Yes, I like to write about chickens, but one could read this on a couple more levels…don’t pigeonhole me, people! My life is more than birds!)

  1. I disagree. In a review I saw recently in “Pidgin English for Pigeons,” the reviewer, one I. Emma Squab, says, “Famed chicken poet Karin Wiberg has spread her fowlesque wings with her latest warblings about the sense of loss that sunsets brings to the sadly captive birds.”

I have seen other poems about subjects other than domestic fowl, however, and I continue to have faith in you. I know that you are, like most chikens, unflappable.
